EVENT IS PAST
SpringFest concludes with a single work: Handel's Italian oratorio on the Resurrection, penned in Rome in 1708. It was first performed on Easter Sunday of that year, backed by his patron Marchese Ruspoli. Ruspoli encouraged a staged setting and display that mimicked opera, although opera was officially banned. Even in a concert setting, Handel's music still delights.
