Blake Downs
Trombone
Blake Downs is a tenor and bass trombonist with a wide range of professional experience. He has served as a lecturer at the University of Delaware, taught privately throughout the mid-Atlantic region, and maintains an active performing career. He has performed with the Newark Symphony Orchestra, Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, and the Stan Kenton Legacy Orchestra. Blake has also toured internationally with the University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra and Jazz Band in Greece and Italy respectively. He has performed at the International Trombone Festival in Ontario, Canada and the American Trombone Workshop in Fort Myer, Virginia. In addition, he has performed in numerous musical theatre productions, operas, brass bands, and chamber ensembles. His primary teachers include Andrew Lankford, Bruce Tychinski, and David Vining. Blake is currently pursuing a DMA at James Madison University and holds degrees from the University of Delaware (MM) and Northern Arizona University (BM).
