Praised for the ability to “pierce hearts” and “utterly silence a room” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer) countertenor Daniel Moody dazzles audiences and makes “a profoundly startling impression” (The New York Times) in opera and concerts ranging from baroque to contemporary premieres. Moody has sung the title roles of Handel’s Giulio Cesare and Rinaldo, Arsamene in Xerxes, Didymus in Theodora, Nerone in L’incoronatione di Poppea, and recently Oberon in Midsummer Night’s Dream with Vancouver Opera. He has sung leading roles in contemporary works by George Benjamin, Peter Knell, Hannah Lash, Aribert Reimann, Elena Ruehr and Jorge Sosa. Career highlights include a recent debut at The Met, appearances with Cincinnati Opera, Atlanta Opera, Minnesota Orchestra, Les Violons du Roy, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and Mark Morris Dance Group. Moody teaches voice in New York City and recently joined the voice faculty at Vancouver Academy of Music in Vancouver, BC.
