Doug Schneider has been a singer and an actor professionally for over 40 years and received his degree in Theater Arts from UCLA. He joined Actor's Equity Association in 1979. After moving to Charlottesville in 1987 Schneider became involved in local theater and has done close to 40 productions locally and in Richmond and Fredericksburg. He has been involved significantly with productions at Live Arts, Heritage Theater Festival, Four County Players, Richmond Triangle Players, New Lyric Theatre, Riverside Center For the Performing Arts and the Hamner Theater. In 2007 readers of the C-Ville Weekly voted Doug Best Actor in Charlottesville and in 2014 he received the Richmond Theater Critics Circle (ARTSIE) Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical (Cabaret). Since 1992 Schneider has been a full time vocal instructor in Charlottesville, teaching students of all ages who are interested in developing their voices and expanding their repertoire.
