Eric Guinivan

Eric Guinivan's music is characterized by propulsive rhythmic layers, shifting harmonic fields, shimmering orchestration, and a strong sense of drive. His output includes works for orchestra, wind ensemble, choir, percussion, brass band, film, chamber ensembles, solos, and electronics. Eric’s music has been featured at festivals, concerts, and conferences across the US and Europe and has received notable honors from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, BMI, ASCAP, Chamber Music America, and the Fromm Foundation, among others. A GRAMMY-nominated percussionist, Eric has performed as soloist with orchestras in California and New York and with orchestras and chamber ensembles across the country. Eric’s Carnegie Hall debut in 2011 was praised by The New York Times for its "shimmering colors" and "frenetic energy." Eric studied composition and percussion at Indiana University and the University of Southern California and is Professor of Composition at James Madison University.
