Erik Higgins

Double Bass, Violone

Erik Higgins, double bass, is a musician known for his versatility and fluency across many different styles and musical traditions. After graduating from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music in 2007, he moved to Germany where he completed postgraduate studies at the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra Academy before joining the Hamburg State Opera as a tenured member in 2009. In 2013, Erik relocated to Boston where he joined the chamber orchestra A Far Cry. Since moving to Denmark in 2018, he has performed regularly throughout Scandinavia with ensembles including Concerto Copenhagen and was a member of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra from 2018–2022. He is also one half of the Nordic chamber-folk duo iiS and the founder and Artistic Director of the Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival, which brings together artists from around the world for cross-cultural collaboration and creative musical exchange in Nebraska.
