Hannah Shaw

Hannah Shaw enjoys a varied career as a performer on modern and historical viola. She regularly appears with Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Mozartists, Arcangelo, Irish Baroque Orchestra, and the Bloomsbury Players. Hannah also frequently performs new music and has worked with composers and conductors as Kaija Saariaho, Caroline Shaw, Huang Ruo, Peter Eötvös, Louis Andriessen, Sofia Gubaidulina, and Elliott Carter. Hannah is a former member of the Eusebius Quartet and has served as guest principal viola with the Britten Sinfonia, London Mozart Players, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The Hague Philharmonic, and more. Hannah received degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory and Juilliard. She also holds a Diploma of Higher Education in Natural Sciences from the Open University. A keen amateur luthier, Hannah is currently studying violin making at Merton College. Born and raised in South Carolina, she now lives in London with her husband and son.
