Luke Balslov

Baroque Trumpet

Luke Balslov graduated from Stony Brook University with a Masters degree in music performance where he studied privately with Kevin Cobb. He also received his Bachelor of Arts in music at Stony Brook where he graduated summa cum laude. He has attended many festivals including the Atlantic Brass Quintet Seminar, Bay Brass Summer Brass Institute, and the Hot Springs Music Festival. In addition to his playing on modern trumpet, Luke began studying the baroque trumpet in 2010 with renowned teachers Kris Kwapis and John Theissen. In 2016 he attended the American Bach Soloists Academy in San Francisco and played under director Jeffrey Thomas. Some notable recent performances include Bach’s B-minor Mass in New York for “Impromptu Bach, Music for a Cause”. He also played principal trumpet on Handel’s Messiah for the first ever period instrument performance to take place in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
