Mónica Waisman
Baroque Violin
Mónica Waisman studied violin at the Oberlin Conservatory with Marilyn McDonald, and at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag with Elizabeth Wallfisch. She enjoys a busy concert and recording schedule as a chamber musician, concertmaster and soloist in the field of historical performance, and has performed with the most renowned period instrument groups throughout Europe, North and South America, as well as Asia. Her various recordings range from the standard repertoire of the European Baroque and Classical literature to recently re-discovered jewels from eighteenth-century South America. In 2003 she founded the period instrument ensemble Harmonie Universelle with Florian Deuter. Known for their exceptional artistry, the group’s concerts and recordings are highly regarded by critics and audiences alike. Recent cd releases include Bach violin concertos as well as various chamber music collections by H.I.F. Biber. Mónica plays on a Baroque violin by Matthieu Besseling, Amsterdam.
