Praised by Opera News for her “unusually rich and resonant” voice, Sara Couden has sung with institutions including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Detroit Opera, San Francisco Symphony, Seattle Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and many others. Her 26-27 season includes singing Bradamante in Alcina, Goffredo in Rinaldo, Principessa in Suor Angelica, and Perseo in Andromeda with local, beloved California Bay Area companies, as well as alto solos in Messiah with Duke University, B Minor Mass with Victoria Symphony, and L’enfant et les sortilèges with New World Symphony and St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and recording the Weihnachtsoratorium under Maestro Nic McGegan. Sara is a graduate of the Lindemann Young Artist Program at the Met, and earned a master’s degree in Opera from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She is also an early music enthusiast and holds an A.D. in Early Music, Chamber Music, and Oratorio from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music.
