NEA Work Sample 5: Selections from the Perspectives Video Series
PRODUCED JUNE 2020
Staunton Music Festival's mission is to present a compelling mix of music from the past 600 years and to show those works in new and interesting relations. To further that goal during the pandemic shutdown in 2020, we developed Perspectives, a series of short videos. Each "Perspective" features SMF performers, composers, and historians sharing insights about music and the broader historical context in which music is created.
This short compilation features composer Stefan Heucke and oboist Roger Roe on Heucke's Sonata for Oboe and Piano; Heather Miller Lardin discussing the historical violone; Todd Williams surveying the natural horn; and Andrew Willis describing two different 19th-century pianos.
