Clifton Massey
Countertenor
Frequently sought as soloist and collaborative musician, countertenor Clifton Massey has enjoyed performing in the Ojai Festival, Tanglewood, Oregon Bach, and the Early Music Festivals of Berkeley, Boston, Indianapolis, and Utrecht. He has worked with notable ensembles including Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, American Bach Soloists, Asheville Symphony, American Classical Orchestra, and Cantata Collective (SF). A proponent of high-level ensemble singing, he sings frequently with leading US groups including Clarion, Voices of Ascension, Trinity Wall St., TENET, and is an alumnus of the Grammy-award-winning group Chanticleer. Clifton lives in New Haven, CT where he is Program Manager for the Organ and Church Music programs at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. He holds degrees from TCU and the Indiana University Historical Performance Institute, where he studied with Paul Hillier and Paul Elliott.
