Martin Davids
Violin, Baroque Violin
Violinist Martin Davids leads and performs with ensembles across the United States. Founder and director of the Callipygian Players, Mr. Davids is also concertmaster of Bella Voce Sinfonia, and often leads Bach Collegium San Diego. He is principal second violin with the Haymarket Opera Company, and Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado. A lover of English Baroque music, he has released world premiere albums of sonatas by Henry Eccles, Michael Festing and just released John Stanley’s Eight Solos, Op.1 in June of 2026. Davids’ Bachfor2 arrangements are widely known and often heard in Staunton. Mr. Davids earned a Performer Diploma in Baroque violin from Indiana University, where he studied with Stanley Ritchie, and a Masters degree from the University of Michigan. He performs on a Baroque violin by Johannes Cuypers from 1780. A third generation disciple of the YiZung Yue school of internal martial arts, he also hosts the “Classical Happy Hour” podcast.
