Martin Davids

Violin, Baroque Violin

Martin Davids founded and directs the Callipygian Players in Chicago, and is concertmaster of Brandywine Baroque, Third Coast Baroque, Bella Voce Sinfonia, and often leads Bach Collegium San Diego. He is principal second violin with the Haymarket Opera Company, and Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado. His performing career has included collaborations with many others throughout North America and Europe. Mr. Davids received his M.M from the University of Michigan and a Performer Diploma from the Early Music Institute at Indiana University where he studied with Stanley Ritchie. His extensive recordings include his most recent, titled: Baroque and Alone. In 2016, Mr. Davids published a volume of arrangements for two violins of J. S. Bach’s solo violin fugues called Bachfor2. More volumes followed. Besides arranging, composing, and raising two teenagers, he hosts the Classical Happy Hour Podcast and is a third generation disciple of the YiZung Yue school of internal martial arts.
